Abstract:
Shanghai’s social work still faces some prominent issues despite itscomparatively earlier beginning, among which are shortage of professional social workers and structural imbalances, unperfectness of regulatory agencies and high loss rate of social workers in particular.The thesis aims to find out the reason of high loss of professional social workers from a perspective of empirical study by analyzing the factors which influence the tiredness of professional social workers. Related countermeasures are put forward with the aim of strengthening the building of Shanghai’s professional social workers so as to provide qualified talents for the development and management of Shanghai. The following conclusions are reached through the analysis:(1) higher levels of burnout of Shanghai social workers, mean 2.2005;(2) burnout differences in demographic variables;(3) burnout and workload, role conflict were significantly positively correlated;(4) burnout and social support, resources, sense of fairness, a sense of information and self-control were significantly negatively correlated.(5) burnout and turnover intention, turnover behavior were significantly positively related.The analysis revealed that the causes of burnout of social workers are diverse, but the main body, mainly related to the government, social work agencies, schools and social workers. This also determines the prevention and intervention measures burnout of social workers from the four aspects listed below:(1)government should innovate the public administration system and strive to foster the development of social work agencies, improve the government’s purchase of social work service mechanism, the scientific design of social work pay system, increase propaganda.(2) social work agencies, social workers should strictly control the "doorway" to help social workers develop career planning, focusing on the incentives for social workers, social workers regularly organize learning exchanges, and create a distinctive organization culture.(3) School should strengthen the ideas and values of social work education, focus on practical training, pay close attention to the preparation of teaching materials to meet local professonal trainging and promote the effective interactions with government and agencies.(4) social workers should develop a correct understanding of burnout, a reasonable career expectations and learn to manage emotions, seek social support, and enrich leisure life.
