Abstract:
Under the background of the construction of new socialist countryside in our country, the rural education has realized the significant strategic transformation for the reform of rural education system and the efforts of compulsory education of the government. Rural middle school students are the main force in the construction of new countryside, and their quality is closely related to the overall situation of the construction of new countryside. Influenced by the reform upsurge and the development trend, groups of rural middle school students are facing new environment and challenges, with their surviving and developing ability and psychological health level paid great attention. Security is the foundation of mental health, only with which can one actively develop his or her own potential, and realize the human nature and value. At present, what’re the characteristics of this group’s security? How will their security level influence their social adaptation potential? These questions need further studying.Thus, this study adopts self-designed security questionnaires and social adaptation scales for rural middle school students, to discuss the condition of rural middle school students’security and relationship between that and social adaptation.Based on the analysis of 873 investigated students, the conclusions are as follows: First, the self-designed security questionnaires for rural middle school students include four dimensions and 17 items. It has good reliability and validity to be the effective measuring tool for rural middle school students.Second, all dimensions and total points of rural middle school students’security have significant difference in gender, the demography scale, that boys’security level is obviously higher than that of girls. The dimension of studies security has significant difference in grade, that Grade 3 students’studies security is obviously higher than that of students in Grade 1.Third, all dimensions and the total points of rural middle school students’security have a significant correlation with those of social adaptation. All security dimensions can significantly predict the social adaptation.
