Abstract:
Nowadays the high gain, low-loss fiber becomes more and more important as demand of people for fiber-optic communications. Because semiconductor quantum dots have unique quantum effects, it can play an important role in other disciplines research such as optics, biology, chemistry, medicine and so on. This paper mainly studies on the CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots fiber. The detail content is as follows:In the first chapter, we introduce the concept of quantum dots and fiber amplifier. In the second chapter, we briefly described the luminescent transition process of semiconductor quantum dots. In the third chapter, we prepared the CdSe and CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots and measured the spectra. The absorption-peaks and PL-peaks wavelength had a red shift with the growth time. Comparing with the CdSe quantum dots, the CdSe/CdS/ZnS also have a red shift. We discussed the parameter of Cd2+of different layers and had come to the best experimental value. In the fourth chapter, firstly we prepared the quantum dots fiber and measured the spectra in different concentration and length. By using the COMSOL software, we simulated the electric field distribution of the CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots doped fiber. Secondly we measured the signal voltage value of the toluene doped fiber, CdSe/ZnS doped fiber, CdSe/CdS/ZnS doped fiber. The result demonstrated that the signal voltage value of the CdSe/ZnS and CdSe/CdS/ZnS doped fibers are enhanced to6.28mV and18.43mV, respectively. So the CdSe/CdS/ZnS quantum dots are more suitable for fiber signal transmission as gain medium in the future.
