Abstract:
With the development of international civil aviation business, the aviation accidents caused byrunway safety have shown a rising trend. The runway incursion is the main threat of runway safety,thus, preventing the runway incursion has become an important research topic to improve runwaysafety. To solve the problem of low flexibility, high cost and high false alarm rate of existing runwayincursion prevention systems, a new runway incursion detection and alarm system based on thewireless sensor network (WSN) technology was designed, which can provide a new solution ofpreventing runway incursions.The system consists of a WSN and a control center. The design scheme was presented accordingto the functional requirements, and the software and hardware design of the system was mainlystudied. Based on the study and analysis of several typical wireless communication technologies,ZigBee was chosen to build the WSN. Various sensor nodes of the network realize the function ofmonitoring the runway incursion, and the detection results were sent to the control center by WSN.In order to improve the accuracy of the test result, the multi-sensor information fusiontechnology based on D-S algorithm was chosen to process the collected information. Besides, arunway incursion monitoring interface was designed in the control center. With the interface, the staffcan monitor and manage the network visually, and can make the related decisions more quicklyaccording to the alarms. Finally, the experimental results proved the flexibility of this scheme.Compared with the existing runway incursion prevention systems, this system has many merits,such as economical, practical, easy maintenance, configurable and high flexibility, which can obtaingood social and economic benefits.
